ANNUAL PLANT SALE

This will take place at Island Hall today Sunday 26thMay from 11.00am – 5.00pm. Admission is free for the plant sale. The gardens will be open as part of the National Garden Scheme and admission costs £4 with accompanied children free; the money raised for this will be donated to National and local cancer charities. CHURCH FETE

The Wives Group have been asked to do the teas at the Fete on Saturday 15th June. As we are such a small group , please may we appeal for donations of cakes ? We will be in the Church hall from midmorning on 15th June, but please ring me for alternative arrangements. Our grateful thanks in anticipation, Olwyn Hurd (chairman) 458700.

MORE CURCH FETE

As is usual we need donations of all sorts of things to make the event a success. There is a box on the font waiting for bottles for the bottle stall. We need cakes for the cake stall, books, gifts for the gift stall and raffle prizes for the Grand Draw. You have all been very generous in the past so we are hoping that you can help again this year. Thank you all for your support.

Ascension Day is next Thursday (30th)

Ascension Day is one of the four great festivals of the Christian year (with Christmas, Easter and Pentecost). As in recent years, we will be holding our Ascension Day Eucharist at the regular Thursday time of 9.45 am on Thursday 30th, but it will be a full Sung Eucharist with choir and a sermon, and will take place in the chancel of the church. Please come, even if you do not regularly attend the Thursday morning service. The Ascension of Christ is an essential element of Christian belief – come and hear why, and celebrate together.

Q & A sermon June 9th

The sermon at the 9.30 am Eucharist on Sunday June 9th will take the form of a question and answer session (on matters of faith, not Brexit, Donald Trump, Britain’s Got Talent or any other headline!) There will be question slips available in church on Sunday June 2nd for those who would like to take one home and write a question – these can be brought to church on the morning of the 9th. You are also welcome to contactme in any way you like between now and the 9th with a question – obviously, if I receive a lot it won’t be possible to address all of them, so they will be selected at random on the day. If time permits, I hope to invite comments from the congregation on the 9th, not just questions, but we may find time does not permit!
