Communications
The Parish Office, situated in the vicarage building but with separate access, is open on Tuesday and Saturday from 10.00 to 12.00 and on Thursday from 10.30 to 12.00. It is the focal point for all outside enquiries, as well as the hub of parish communication and administration.
The role of the Communications Committee is to explore ways in which good communication is facilitated. Keeping in touch, both with ourselves and with the wider community, is seen as a priority. It is achieved in a variety of ways:
- a weekly newsletter is handed out with hymn books and service booklets on Sundays;
- a monthly magazine, Godmanchester Parish News, which includes as regular items the ministry team letter, the parish diary for the month, a prayer calendar for the month and reports of church groups and activities;
- Children’s Church newsletter, produced once a term;
- a parish directory (in progress);
- a welcome pack (in progress);
- an annual report which includes reports on the activities of all parish groups;
- open meetings, when appropriate, which are held in church after the Sunday morning service to discuss important issues and initiatives among the whole congregation;
- news of church activities and services published on the parish website at www.ely.anglican.org/parishes/godmanchester;
- articles and photographs in the three local newspapers;
- news items on local radio and television.
