Introduction
The new vicar was walking around his parish shortly after his arrival in the village. He came upon a small thatched cottage with a spectacular garden. He stopped and spoke to the old gentleman working in the garden. “What a beautiful garden”, he said, “a shining example of God’s wonderful work.” After a short pause the gentleman replied “Ah, but you should have seen it when He had it to Himself”
Our parish is like that garden, but it needs a new head gardener to work with God to lead and work with a committed and talented team of assistants and volunteer helpers in sustaining and building on the achievements of his/her predecessors. It will be a challenging, but rewarding task.
