Photography Competition, 2011 — Details
The youth group are holding a photography competition this year to see if we can contribute to the fundraising for the church roof appeal. We are inviting people to enter their digital photographs in four categories of Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. The youth group is co-ordinating the competition and will judge the entries and the winning 12 photographs will be displayed at the Queen Elizabeth Hall before the civic service and in the church during the harvest weekend. We will also make a desk calender which will be on sale in the autumn. We are reserving one space in each category for a winner in the under 15 age group but more could win on merit.
We are keen for the whole community to be involved so we will be promoting it with posters and we would love the Guides, Scouts, Brownies and Cubs and the two primary schools to get involved. There are no set themes for the photographs but something that reflects life in Godmanchester may very well appeal to the judging panel.
It is 50p to enter a photograph and each e-mailed photograph needs to be linked to an entry form. The entry form can be downloaded from the St Mary’s website and it can be e-mailed. The photo isn’t to be printed but e-mailed to the competition e-mail address.
The prizes are:
- All 12 winning photographers get a calender and a certificate.
- The top 4 prize winners (one in each category) get a book token.
The winning photographs will be displayed in the church at Harvest Festival and at the Queen Elizabeth hall before the Civic Service.

We believe that the Parish Church of Saint Mary the Virgin, Godmanchester, exists to build up the individual and corporate spiritual life of our Church and to spread the love of Christ through word and deed, by enabling those who live and work within our town to come into contact with God’s love and come to faith in Christ.
