Bell Ringing Practice

There will be a bell ringing practice on Tuesday 14th March at 7.30pm.

Bell ringing practices are now being run jointly between Godmanchester and Huntingdon every Tuesday as follows:

1st, 3rd and 4th Tuesday in the month – All Saints, Huntingdon

2nd Tuesday in the month – Godmanchester

5th Tuesday in the month – St Mary’s, Huntingdon

If you are thinking of taking up bell ringing, practices are a wonderful opportunity to see what’s involved.

Hunts Phil Choir with Chamber Orchestra

On Saturday 18th March at 7.30pm the Hunts Phil Choir with a chamber orchestra will be singing two ever-popular pieces of music. The German Requiem by Brahms and Faure’s Cantique de Jean Racine. Tickets from www.huntsphil.org.uk or on the door. The Friends of St Mary’s will be running a licenced bar for church funds. Please come and support our local choir.

Lent Frugal Lunch on Sunday 26th March

We are going to have our Lent frugal lunch at 12 noon on Sunday 26th March. The lunch will be in the church hall and comprise vegetable soup, bread & butter, cheese and fruit. We will have a collection basket on the day.

To be able to cater efficiently I need to know how many people will attend. I shall leave a list on the south door table where all interested can add their names. You can also contact me on 07786234571 if you have no access to the list.

Profits will be handed to the Charities Committee. Please do come and celebrate the Lent amongst our church family. Love from Lucilia.

Lent Prayer & Study Group

The Lent prayer and study group continues in the Vicarage at 10am this Friday 17th March. We are using reflections from a booklet called ‘Dust and Glory’, which looks at faith, failure and forgiveness and is provided. All are welcome. No need to book in advance or to commit to all six sessions. Refreshments provided.

Election of Churchwardens and Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM)

The Election of Churchwardens and APCM will be held on 30th April, at 11.15am (after the 9.30am service). The meeting includes election of two Churchwardens, five members of the PCC and two Representatives to Deanery Synod.

I have nomination forms for churchwardens and PCC members, so if you would like to be nominated, please get in touch. The form will need to be completed and returned to me by Friday 31st March.

Regulations on eligibility to be a churchwarden or a member of the PCC are on the back of the appropriate nomination forms.

Anybody registered on the local government electoral roll is entitled to vote for the election of the churchwardens, but only persons whose names are entered upon the Church Electoral Roll are entitled to vote at the APCM.

If you are member of the congregation, but are not on the electoral roll, please complete an electoral roll form and return it to me by Friday 31st March, as I also act as the Electoral Roll Officer. A copy of the Church Electoral Roll Form is on the church website. You can download the form and scan and email the signed form back to me at the email address below if you prefer.

Members of the congregation wishing to raise any item under Any Other Business are asked to give notice of the item to me, via email by Friday 7th April, please. Thank you.

I’m not able to attend the APCM this year, so am looking for a volunteer to take the minutes. It’s really not difficult (they practically write themselves!), so if anyone is willing to take this on, please let me know and I can run through things with you. Many thanks.
