Godmanchester Food Bank

Thank you to everyone who has generously donated to the food bank. Joe George, project manager, reports that this summer the food bank has supported over 80 families; involving 100 adults and 150 children. Each week, in addition to normal food parcels, they have received fresh food with simple recipe cards to have fun preparing and cooking together. It has been a great joy to see the pleasure this has given.

Thank you all for helping to make it possible. Liz Irving.

Church Opening

We have a vacancy for someone to join the team opening and closing the church on weekdays. Carole Olsen and her family have moved away from Godmanchester, and Wednesdays are no longer covered on the rota. The duties are straight forward. Having your own key, you would unlock the church at 9 am, lock up at 5 pm, and in the process put out/bring in the blue Church Open board. Members of the team – Edwin Buttfield, Robert and Anne Francis, Liz and Peter Irving, and Gordon Peacock – are most amenable to swapping occasional duties should this be necessary for any reason.

Please speak to Liz or Peter Irving (382144) if you are interested.

Godmanchester Community Association Novice Bowls Tournament

Sunday 5th September at the Royal Oak from 2pm. Contact Stephen Spencer 07810 481414 or email chairman to register a team. Novices only at £5 per team of 4.

Town Show Request

The ladies from the church have always done us proud each year, with their baking skills, in producing wonderful cakes to add to our afternoon teas.

Ladies (and gentlemen) would you be able to bake some of your excellent cakes for our refreshment stall? Contributions will be gratefully accepted during the morning of Saturday 25th September at the nursery, but if that is difficult for people and they find that dropping them off at the church would be better for them we can arrange for collection from there.

Mike & Ann Grice on 07773 401 853 would be happy to make alternative arrangements for collection if necessary.
