hailed by the crowd as Messiah:
grant us the faith to know you and love you,
that we may be found beside you
on the way of the cross,
which is the path of glory.

The Flower Guild invites donations
The Flower Guild invites donations towards the purchase of lilies in loving memory of loved ones. These lilies will form part of the Church’s Easter flower arrangements, celebrating the joy and hope of Easter. Those who wish are warmly invited to make a personal dedication in the Remembrance Book, which is placed by the Memorial Altar in the North Aisle of the Church. If you would like to make a dedication, please place your contribution in a lily donation envelope, available by the Remembrance Book, and then place the envelope in the box in the wall by the Church entrance.
Election of Churchwardens, Annual Parochial Church Meeting (APCM) and Church Electoral Roll
The Election of Churchwardens and APCM will be held on Sunday 17 May 2026 starting at 11.00am (after the 9.30am service). The meeting includes the election of 2 Churchwardens, 2 Deanery Synod representatives and 5 members of the PCC.
Nomination forms for churchwardens, Deanery Synod representatives and PCC members are available from me or David Busk. If you would like to be nominated, please complete a form and return it to David or me by Friday, 1 May 2025.
Regulations on eligibility to be a churchwarden or a member of the PCC are on the appropriate nomination forms. Anybody registered on the Local Government Electoral Roll is entitled to vote in the Election of Churchwardens, but only persons whose names are entered upon the Church Electoral Roll are entitled to vote at the APCM.
If you are member of the congregation, and wish to vote at the APCM, you must be on the Church Electoral Roll. This year, we are preparing a new electoral roll. All members of the congregation, who wish to be on the new Church Electoral Roll, should complete an electoral roll form and return it to me (as the Electoral Roll Officer) by Friday, 26th April 2026. To help with the administration, I would be grateful of you could download the form from the website:
andrewwright or via the W pigeonhole in a sealed envelope. If you prefer, paper copies of the form are available by the south door, and these can also be emailed to me or left in a sealed envelope in the W pigeonhole for my attention. Members of the congregation wishing to raise any item under Any Other Business at the APCM are asked to give notice of the item to me, via email (andrewwright) by Friday, 1 May 2026, please. Thank you.

USPG (United Society Partners in the Gospel)
You may have seen Peter Wienand’s piece at the end of the February Parish News. Peter will be leaving some materials from USPG at the back of the church for anyone interested to pick up: copies of USPG’s magazine ‘Revive’, and of its Prayer Calendar. These align well with Archbishop Sarah Mullally’s Lent Book, ‘Dancing to the Heartbeat of God’ which contains contributions from around thirty authors from around the Anglican Communion, reminding us that we are part of a vibrant worldwide church.
A new Bishop of Ely – finally!
At long last we have a new bishop – The Rt Revd Sarah Clark, who comes to us from the Diocese of Durham, where she was Bishop of Jarrow and Acting Diocesan Bishop. A correction to what I said earlier: the Confirmation of Election for Bishop Sarah, which will formally make her our Bishop, will be on April 17th. Her installation – the ceremony to celebrate her appointment – will be ‘sometime in the summer’. We thank God and we pray for Bishop Sarah as she prepares to lead us, and let us continue to pray for Bishop Dagmar, who has just been appointed Bishop of Edinburgh but who remains Acting Diocesan Bishop here as she has been since July 2023 until she leaves us later this Spring.
