Welcome to St Mary’s

New to the Parish Church?

New to Godmanchester, or a visitor to the town, and you would like to know more about the St Mary’s community? Please collect a ‘Welcome’ flyer from the table by the entrance door at the church. Do make yourself known to the Vicar, one of the Churchwardens.

Please Pray for Theo Jacklin who is to be baptised today and for his parents and godparents.

This was a great success last week end. Thank you to all who came and bought so generously and thank you so much to all the helpers selling the plants and teas for their hard work and invaluable contribution. The sale of plants made £752 and the sale of teas made £1116 which makes a grand total of £1868 for the church. The visitors to the garden made £1563 for local cancer charities via the National Garden Scheme. What wonderful results for all concerned.

The Wives Group have been asked to do the teas at the Fete on Saturday 15th June. As we are such a small group , please may we appeal for donations of cakes ? We will be in the Church hall from midmorning on 15th June, but please ring me for alternative arrangements. Our grateful thanks in anticipation, Olwyn Hurd (chairman) 458700.

As is usual we need donations of all sorts of things to make the event a success. There is a box on the font waiting for bottles for the bottle stall. We need cakes for the cake stall, books, gifts for the gift stall and raffle prizes for the Grand Draw. You have all been very generous in the past so we are hoping that you can help again this year. Please could you look on the table by the font as there may be some raffle tickets there for you to buy or sell. Thank you all for your support.

Q & A sermon June 9th

The sermon at the 9.30 am Eucharist on Sunday June 9th will take the form of a question and answer session (on matters of faith, not Brexit, Donald Trump, Britain’s Got Talent or any other headline!) There will be question slips available in church on Sunday June 2nd for those who would like to take one home and write a question – these can be brought to church on the morning of the 9th. You are also welcome to contact me in any way you like between now and the 9th with a question – obviously, if I receive a lot it won’t be possible to address all of them, so they will be selected at random on the day. If time permits, I hope to invite comments from the congregation on the 9th, not just questions, but we may find time does not permit!
