Lent Course Meeting
There will be a Lent Course meeting at the Vicarage at 2.30 pm on five Wednesdays of Lent: Feb. 21st & 28th, and March 6th, 13th & 20th. All are welcome, and the course material, entitled ‘Watch and Pray’, will be provided. There will be no Zoom communion on those days.
Quiz Night – Saturday 6th April
The charities committee are hosting a quiz night on Saturday 6th April, 7pm in aid of Thrive. Please come and support. There will be cottage pie provided and you are invited to brink your own drinks. £12.50 for each person with teams of 6-8. You are welcome to come as a team or we can assemble the teams, so no worries if you are on your own. There will be a raffle (of course!) and any contributions to this are welcome. Sponsorship Cambridge half marathon
I am running the Cambridge half marathon on March 3rd in aid of Alzheimer’s research. The original plan was to run the London marathon in April but Ian and I have succumbed to older age wear and tear and have had to postpone the longer event, hoping we might be fit enough next year! If anybody in the church community would lie to sponsor me I would be most grateful. Many thanks, Kate Barkshire.
John Dillistone: CDs of Bay Area Recitals 1998
At last year’s Ride and Stride Day, John Dillistone, former organist of St Mary’s performed a sponsored concert in church and kindly provided CDs of his recitals in San Francisco and New Berkeley to be sold to support our fund-raising for Ride and Stride. He has now given me a further 10 CDs to be sold to raise funds for our current projects. These are of his performances of organ music from the Baroque to the C20th. They are £10 per CD. The CD is 70 minutes long and contains the wonderful music of, amongst others, JS Bach, and S Wesley.
I am loath to leave these on display when the church is open but if anyone might be interested, please contact me on a.leighsmith or 433467.

Lent Frugal Lunch
As in previous years, we are having a frugal lunch in Lent, which will be on Sunday 3rd March, starting at 12pm. The lunch will comprise soup, bread & butter, cheese and fruit. A list is now on the table at the south door where people can add their names, choice of soup or suggestion and special dietary requirements. Please do not forget to add the date in your diaries.
